Winter on Bainbridge Island

It’s hard to believe winter is here on Bainbridge Island. Yet despite the shorter days and chill in the air, there is still plenty of fun to be had amidst frosty harbor views and the twinkle of holiday lights. Whether we’re sipping a delicious hot cocoa at Blackbird Bakery or enjoying unforgettable local wines at the Island’s wineries and boutique tasting rooms, winter is a favorite time of year. To celebrate the start of the season, we put together a calendar featuring a few upcoming events and activities on the Island that are not to be missed.

Art in Action  |  Most Days through 1/1

Filling winter break weekdays with activities to keep the kids busy can prove to be a difficult task for parents, so the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art decided to open its doors for a series of “make-and-take art projects,” from greeting card making and animal collages, to drawing and print making.

Holiday Village  |  Open through 12/31

At Bloedel Reserve, the magic of the season comes alive within Holiday Village, as a handmade town invites all ages to revel in the majesty of the miniature. Attendees also enjoy sipping on delicious cider and taking in the festive decorations at The Residence.

First Friday Art Walk  |  January 5th

On the First Friday of every month, the Island arts scene comes together to showcase vibrant pieces of art in a variety of mediums. Businesses open their doors for good food and company, as residents and visitors stroll downtown Winslow. Be sure to stop by RSIR!

First Sundays Concerts  |  January 7th

The Waterfront Park Community Center welcomes a guest musician on the first Sunday of every month to share their talents in an evening of music, dancing and plenty of fun. January will bring Janet See, a flutist, to the stage for a classical performance.

BIJAC Mochi Tsuki Celebration  |  January 7th

Celebrate the New Year in the Japanese tradition, as the community gathers for “mochi tsuki” (mochi-making), a favorite event among all ages. Though the event is complimentary, pre-registration is required due to its popularity!

Moonlit Night  |  January 16th

January 16th will bring “Corks and Canvas” to Fletcher Bay Winery for a fun evening sipping delicious wines by the glass while you learn to paint Moonlit Night, a winter-themed canvas painting perfect for the coldest season of the year.
